Hotelbuddy Technology is launching at Centennial Hotel Tallinn!

Updated: Feb 10, 2023

We are glad to announce that the award-winning Centennial Hotel Tallinn has chosen to pilot the Hotelbuddy solution as the first hotel in Tallinn, to offer a wide range of contactless services to their guests.

Centennial Hotel Tallinn opened in 2017, celebrating the centennial anniversary of Estonia’s freedom and independence and its integration into Europe. The hotel’s interior is Nordic minimalist and Estonia’s centennial anniversary is reflected in the artistic design of the hotel featuring the main periods in the history of Estonia over the last 100 years. The hotel quickly became favoured by both local and international travellers and won the hearts of many.

Pandemic brought change

Today the hotel is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and is hopeful to see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. We interviewed Mr Malksoo, the Front Office Manager of Centennial Hotel Tallinn to see how they have managed to tackle the crisis and what is his take on the future of hotels.

“The pandemic hit us unexpectedly. I would say we really didn’t see it coming. And even when we closed down the hotels in our group when the state of emergency was declared, we did not believe it would take this long.”

The COVID-19 pandemic shook the hotel industry particularly hard and turned many hotel businesses upside down. “We did our best to struggle through that crisis and keep up with the continuous changes. We took the threat of the virus very seriously and although our hotels have always excelled in the cleanliness ratings, during the virus period we applied additional cleaning and safety standards to the existing ones throughout our hotel group to make sure that our guests and employees are safe.”

Contactless services are here to stay

The hotel has decided to become the first hotel in Tallinn to pilot the Hotelbuddy contactless guest technology.

“We strongly believe that contactless services will become the norm of a regular hotel standard. What we especially liked about the Hotelbuddy solution is that It is a safe and convenient way for the guests to use the hotel services from their personal devices and there is no need to download an app. Standing in lines to fill in registration cards and get the keys from the reception or a check-in kiosk is not time efficient nor safe as it increases the number of touchpoints and contact between people. Why would you want to waste time queueing up in a hotel lobby to fill in a registration card if you can do the same thing on your living room couch?”

Studies clearly show that contactless services are expected by consumers more than ever. Most of the studies and surveys reveal that people are reassessing the way they interact with organizations, demanding a whole new type of remote customer experience. In fact, more than 60% of consumers expect to increase their use of touchless technologies once this crisis subsides.

Online check-in and mobile keys

Centennial Hotel Tallinn is planning to launch the first contactless solutions like online check-in and check-out, digital key and digital payment during the course of this summer.

“We truly hope that our guests will appreciate the new technology and that their experience in the hotel will be enhanced. We are very excited about the cooperation with Hotelbuddy and can’t wait to offer all the new services to our guests that will be rolled out this year.”
