Hannes Mulla, the CEO & Founder of Hotelbuddy

Updated: Feb 23, 2023

HotelBuddy would not be HotelBuddy if it wasn’t the great team behind it. Our team members working behind the scenes (or, khmm, computers) are some of the most hardworking and talented individuals and we feel that it is time to cast some spotlight on our cool team members. Therefore we are glad to introduce the HotelBuddy team to you starting with the founder and CEO- Hannes Mulla. Hannes has been working with computers almost as long as he has been alive and can be easily described as a technology enthusiast or simply as a nerd (but a very cool one of course😎 ). However Hannes is not just an IT guy, he is also a husband to a beautiful wife and a father of two great children and Hannes is also extremely passionate about sports. He has been running, skiing, skating and riding through multiple marathons and triathlons through more than 10 years and is training every day to stay in great shape.

A fun fact – Hannes had set a goal for his 2020 Ironman 70.3 triathlon to be completed in less than 5 hours and his final result was 04:59:43 😁 🙌

In order to get to know him better, we did a little interview with him and asked him a few questions:

What’s your job title/role at Hotelbuddy?

Founder and CEO

What sort of duties do you have at Hotelbuddy?

Making decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of the company, strategic planning, making sure that the quality of the product and the customer service are excellent etc. The list is long.

How long is your experience in the IT/tech field?

For more than 20 years.

What was your first job?

My first job was a computer class teacher for elementary school, when I was in 10th grade.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by my hard-working and venturesome friends, who have created something cool out of nothing. Sort of self-made boys and girls who have had the courage to start to walk on their own paths and made their way into something beautiful.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

The coolest part of our work is creating technology, which would actually make someone’s life better and more convenient. Bringing a new technology to the hoteliers, which used to be unavailable before.

What’s something you find challenging about your work?

The most challenging is the communication with large enterprises due to their inefficiency, bureaucracy and their ways of making simple things difficult. Total waste of time 🙂

What’s your most-used productivity hack?

To do list!

What animal would you consider your spirit animal?

“Tööloom” (work animal or get-s#@t-done animal). Well I am that kind of person that if there is a job that needs to be done, I will work as long as it takes, but the work will need to get done, even if it means working 48 h hours in a row!💪

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I am definitely not a morning person at all. All the great ideas come to me always at night.

What show are you currently binge-watching?

21:00 news (AK news).

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an astronaut. Or, I could also say that I wanted to be myself. And now I have. That is great success- one less thing to worry about 👉😎👉

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

When everything is in a balance- family, training, work and friends.

Is your glass half full or half empty?

It’s always full.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Beware, explosives. BOOM💥
