Meet Indrek – Our Senior Sales Manager

In order to get to know Indrek better, we asked him some questions about his experiences, life hacks and passions:

What’s your role at Hotelbuddy?

I’m proud to play my role as a Senior Sales Manager for HotelBuddy. My task is to introduce Hotelbuddy solutions for new hotels in the Nordics and the Baltics.

What was your background before joining Hotelbuddy?

My first ever official job was as a porter/concierge at a five-star hotel. Fun fact: there I also met Kadi, who was my first-ever boss. After that, for about 8 years I’ve been doing sales in a wide variety of industries and positions: insurance for legal expenses, forestry and agriculture, plastic and metal manufacturing, and recruitment services.

What is your expertise?

Strategic and solution-oriented thinking, excellent negotiation skills and 10 years of sales expertise both in B2B and B2C.

Sales calls – No problem! Indrek finds a solution to every problem!
Sales calls – No problem! Indrek finds a solution to every problem!

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

Identifying problems and generating solutions based on possibilities HotelBuddy offers.

Who inspires you?

MMA fighter Francis Ngannou. Please google his life and his journey to become who he is today and tell me you are not inspired by that!

Which 3 words describe you the best?

Spontaneous, joyful, competitive.

Recommend a good book/podcast you have read/listened to recently.

  • Lex Fridman’s podcast– Such a good listen about all-around topics starting from entrepreneurship and politics to history and religion.

  • Rich Roll- all-around personal development-related discussions

  • Restart– Estonian podcast about startups, IT and tech topics.

Working smark not hard. Task batching

What’s your most-used productivity hack?

Dividing my tasks with similar characteristics to be done together in one “block”. For example, keeping planning and strategy, calls, emails and meetings all separated from each other.

What is one piece of advice about life you would give to people that has really helped you?

One who asks might seem stupid for a minute. One who doesn’t ask can seem stupid forever.

When you were a kid, who did you want to become?

An astronaut. Close relatives told me that I should become a priest because I was so talkative. Well, sales seem to be a fit as well.

If you were a vehicle, which one would you be?

A BMW- a little bit unpredictable, but exceptional when working properly.

What has been your favourite travel destination?

A snowboarding trip to Gudauri, Georgia. Amazing culture, tasty cuisine, rather cheap prices and such nice local people. Also can’t leave unmentioned the quality of snow these mountains had.

What’s your hidden talent/hobby?

I’m quite passionate about playing disc golf, I like to slide on boards (either snowboard on snow or wakeboard on water), and I know my way around the DJ decks also.

How do you keep fit? Do you work out or have some healthy lifestyle hacks?

Gym 3 times a week at least, staying hydrated and keeping sugar intake low.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

“Caution! Explosive!”
